Swift Aerobatic Team Display
The Swift Aerobatic Display Team entertains with a combination of glider and powered aircraft aerobatics. This includes the ‘aerotow’ - a towed glider performance with the ‘roll on tow’ in which the glider rolls and flies upside down. This will be a unique sight over Windermere.
Glider
The glider is an S-1 Swift G-IZII, the strongest, most aerobatic glider ever built, with an unparalleled roll rate and immensely, strong, but slender composite wings.
Tow Plane
The tow plane is a Piper PA25 Pawnee G-BDPJ, designed as a rugged and easy to maintain agricultural aircraft.
Powered Aircraft Aerobatics
In the same display, the Twister’s exciting powered aerobatics complements that of the glider.
The SA180 Silence Twister is the brain child of a model making family in Germany, who built the first Twister prototype in 2003, inspired by the original Spitfire design.
